Bio:  Richard Smith retired from the Comal County Sheriff’s Office in New Braunfels, Texas after serving for over 20 years in law enforcement.

During Richard’s career, he worked as a patrol officer, patrol supervisor, Courthouse Campus security supervisor. Richard also worked as a supervisor in the Community Resource Team, supervising School Resource Officers, Dare Officers and Crime Prevention Officers.

Richard was promoted to Investigator in 2012 and assigned to Financial Crimes. He became the Financial Crimes Supervisor later that year.

Richard achieved his CFE designation in 2016 and his Certified Economic Crimes, Forensic Examiner designation from NW3C in 2018.

Working in the area between San Antonio, Texas and Austin, Texas, Richard partnered and worked with many local, State and Federal partners, including the Texas Rangers, The U.S. Marshals, U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Postal Inspection Service, The FBI, Homeland Security and many more.

Richard has been involved in thousands of fraud cases ranging from identity theft, mail theft, money laundering, data breach incidents, business email compromise case and many more.

Richard has testified in local, state and federal courts, including Federal Bankruptcy court.

Richard is now working as a consultant and speaker in the private sector.

Registration fee includes lunch and 1 CPE credit.

Cancellation Policy and No Shows:  If you have registered and/or paid for an event and you need to cancel, you MUST email info@rgvacfe.com no later than noon the prior day of the event to request a refund and/or cancel your registration. The Chapter must confirm event registrations with the venue within 1 days of the event and any changes after this time period can become a financial cost to the Chapter. Cancellations received less than 1 days prior to events will not be refunded except for exigent circumstances.

In the event an attendee does not show up to the event, the registration cost will be forfeited. If payment at the door was the selected method, then the attendee will be billed for the full cost of the event. The Chapter reserves the right to bar for future registration any attendees who routinely register and fail to pay and/or attend the event.
