Bio:  

John Robert (Bob) Sparger is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Accountancy at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and an independent consultant. Before beginning his academic career, he held senior roles during a 40-year career in industry, public accounting, and consulting. Mr. Sparger served as the Chief Accounting Officer of a Fortune 500 company, has led internal auditing and managed various accounting departments, was an auditor and consultant at KPMG and EY, and principal consultant with a large international consulting firm. Mr. Sparger is recognized as a subject matter expert in technical accounting and GAAP, financial reporting, accounting and business analysis, internal control and compliance activities, and process improvement. He has authored articles on energy industry accounting and disclosures. Mr. Sparger also developed and taught several continuing professional education courses. He was a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants Professional Standards Committee and the Reporting Subcommittee (2002 – 2006). Mr. Sparger background also includes significant experience in system evaluation, selection, business case, and implementation coupled with business process redesign; design and development of spreadsheet-based, reporting, planning, and operational accounting systems; desktop decision support technologies (Excel, Access); and programming skills (STATA, Python). Mr. Sparger earned a Doctor of Business Administration in Accounting from Kennesaw State University in 2017, MBA (Honors) from Southern Methodist University in 1997, and a BBA in Accounting in 1979 and a BA in Political Science in 1976 from the University of Oklahoma. He is a CPA, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Chartered Global Management Accountant. Mr. Sparger is a member of the American Accounting Association, American Institute of CPAs, Texas Society of CPAs, and Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.


Registration fee is per person attending the meeting.  It includes 1 CPE credit and lunch. 

Cancellation Policy and No Shows:  Cancellations will not be eligible for a refund; however, substitutions will be accepted. In the event an attendee does not attend the event, the registration fee will be forfeited.

The Chapter reserves the right to bar for future registration any attendees who routinely register and fail to pay and/or attend the event.
